  • Palace of Versailles

Over in my other post I promised to upload some more photos from my recent visit to the Versailles.

Here's an interesting one to start with - do you notice anything unusual?

Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_20200112_144632.jpg Views:	0 Size:	333.7 KB ID:	153121 That's not an oversize sofa, it's a very short bed.

I was told that for a short period of time there was a school of thought that if you lay fully prone when you slept you invited death! So the fashion was for beds for sleeping in that prevented you from lying fully as you would in a full-sized bed - very weird!

This was taken in the bedroom of one of the King's daughters.

This is a JPEG straight out of my phone (Huawei P30 Pro), completely un-edited apart from being resized by the forum.

Back to the phone, being lazy and taking advantage of the P30 Pro's ultrawide lens (I had the same kind of lens for my Olympus in my bag!) for this one and adjusted using Google Photos basic tools online; it's a bit OTT, but an ideal candidate!

Wow ! What a fantastic place. It is exactly what I was expecting, and makes me want to see it for myself.
Shame about the amount of people there. But cant be helped, obviously.
            Great set, Ian.

Beautiful shots! I've never been there but have toured Mad King Ludwig's Herrenchiemsee in Bavaria which is patterned after Versailles. I was there in 1957 and again in 2016.

If you're not living on the edge you're taking up too much room.

                Hand-held at 1/5th second, OM-D E-M1 Mkii, 12-40 Pro, f/2.8, ISO 200

As you might be able to tell, it was quite dark

This is heavily adjusted in Lightroom. I think my camera's level indicators need recalibrating as this shot was not straight.
