  • Winter has returned to the US!

Last year saw the "Winter That Never Was" in the northeast US. This year is a totally different story. We even have a blizzard forecast in the next two days. I work in the ski industry seven days a week in the winter so I haven't had a chance to take any shots. This past weekend I was competing at the NASTAR Eastern Championships (as a skier and as a snowboarder) and did grab one shot with my iPhone.

The event which drew 250 racers worked out better than I anticipated.

We were put under a winter storm watch yesterday evening but that had been changed to a snowfall warning this morning.

Now that's what I call a snazzy ski suit

Winter could be on the way back here in the UK, too.

And our heating thermostat broke (wireless receiver/boiler demand unit and thermostat units - both of which have been playing up for months) yesterday evening so it was a chilly night and breakfast with freezing temperatures outside. Luckily I was able to replace it (Another £120 we can't afford to give away) and even fit it this morning.

Those are super shots. They make the cold look bright and colourful and the snow look like fun.

When you're a 66 year old snowboard racer, it's always fun!

We are anticipating as much as two feet of snow tomprrow. The wife and I are taking Friday off and driving to our place in Vermont tonight. I have a couple of races (this time on skis) this weekend and if wait to leave until tomorrow I don't think we'll make it.

I would have to think twice before attempting any extreme sport. Mind I am a few years ahead of you. (Yes, I know I don't look ancient.)

Congratulations and I hope you reached Vermont without conditions delaying you.

They're getting hit pretty hard to the south of us. We've only had about 8 inches of snow so far. I've had to fill the sunflower seed feeders twice and shoveled snow each time.

We spent the weekend in Vermont where we picked up 14 inches of new snow. Back in CT our condo's yard picked up three feet of snow! Many of the roads were still closed today. Now we're looking at another potential snowstorm this coming weekend.
