    Not just an ugly duck

    To most people the drake Gadwall is just a plain grey duck with a black rump but on closer inspection in breeding plumage it is a creature of real beauty with amazing feather patterning!






    E-M5 plus Canon 400mm f5.6L - quite large crops.

    That camera/lens combination is working a treat. There are some excellent details, contrasts and colours here despite the cropping.

    And that's not an ugly duck , they're all beautiful, all of them photogenic.

      A great many birds birds reveal beauty in camera not observed by the naked eye and this is one of them.
