We had a day of misfortunes - it started with the day being grey and misty, but our thoughts were with a sunny day to come.
My first pic was taken rather quickly for as we rounded a bend we were met with a new vehicle carrying some rather impressive lock gates.

Next Anne spotted a Kingfisher from afar exactly on the end of a narrow branch about to fish - just perfect. Imagine our thoughts when a moorhen decided to leap off the path into the canal shrieking a warning to all. Missed the beautiful bird!
The sun broke through as we spotted two cormorants way up high in a tree - normally they rest and sun themselves on a phone tower on the opposite side of the canal.

On our return after a stopover for lunch the weather started to turn rather dark but not before I spotted these atop a narrowboat with a friend. I would imagine on a windy night they act as an alarm clock (I don't like alarm clocks).

Amazed the E-5 achieved getting this snap shot as it was so dark - lots of pp here. Grass snake for a late lunch.

Finally -
RIP Another find on the front deck of a boat being renovated.

All taken with Olympus E-5 + 70-300 lens - A.mode - various settings
Below a couple of links which you may find helpful. British Waterways have changed their name to Canal and River Trust.
