    I thought this had the look of the Triffids about it so gave it an horrific treatment...shot on my Samsung pnone..3.2 mp.

      Yeah, they look ominous and ready to strike.

      Are they Teasels? If so they'll certainly spike you and get you running away screaming when the sharp spikes appear.

            Thanks everyone..

            Yes they are Teazle - and are spreading as quick as the Triffids.However the seeds get around they are certainly doing a good job.
            Hope for loads of Goldfinches to be around in the coming years.

              They've been my worst nightmare since we once scattered a few seeds to attract Goldfinch. They take a couple of years to grow and those spikes and thick stems are hard work, to put it mildly.

              The Goldfinch came more quickly and regularly to the Nyger seed feeders so we got rid of all signs of the dreaded Teasels many years ago. However one popped up this year in the area where the greenhouse used to stand. It made me wonder if there are millions more seeds lying dormant in the back garden. So maybe we'll end up with our very own day of the triffids before much longer!

              I sincerely hope not!
