  • In the studio today

Olympus arranged a model shoot today. The venue was, er, different (basically a 'dungeon' studio...) - anyway...

    Here's a few from me:

    m.Zuiko 75mm f/1.8, OM-D E-M5, ISO 800 1/640th, @f/1.8

    m.Zuiko 75mm f/1.8, OM-D E-M5, ISO 800 1/400th, @f/1.8

    m.Zuiko 75mm f/1.8, OM-D E-M5, ISO 1600, 1/30th, @f/1.8, +2/3rd stop.

    m.Zuiko 17mm f/1.8, OM-D E-M5, ISO 1250 1/50th, @f/1.8

    More to come!

What's that strange white light behind her hair in the first two? I find it distracting and it spoils those pictures for me.

OK - it's a back-light. I respect your preference but for me it adds to the picture

          Re: In the studio today

Here are some more from yesterday - sadness and happiness:

Here the theme was despair with the girl driven to drink! (Not my idea!)
          OM-D E-M5, m.Zuiko 75mm f/1.8, ISO 800, 1/30th @f/2.0

          OM-D E-M5, m.Zuiko 75mm f/1.8, ISO 800, 1/125th @f/1.8

          OM-D E-M5, m.Zuiko 75mm f/1.8, ISO 800, 1/125th @f/1.8

And here is some proof that the theme of sadness and despair was just an act

They are all good shots, produced in a style that I like.

This however is excellent, with both you and Sam getting it exactly right.

An excellent batch which also conveys the feelings intended.

I especially like the first one.

The models expression in the first (the mono) makes it very realistic, the 'despair' is very evident. Posed and taken beautifully.

Well done Ian. I saw Mark's pics on Tumblr too. Looked like a fun day. Maybe I'll get down to the next one.

                    Re: In the studio today

nice model shots, Ian. I've never been to a model shoot in studio, only ones outside so there were no need of thinking about back lighting except for the sunshine.
The model was continuously taking various poses of her own free will or photographers asked her to take particular poses and facial expressions?

Canon, Nikon and Olympus photo clubs organized by each manufacturer arrange model shoots twice a year or so here and when I had membership of those camera clubs I attended some - but all in the previous century.
I do not know why but I still keep membership of Pentax photo club, while quit all others. Quite peculiar as I have no Pentax DSLR. They just arrange a landscape shoot and as far as I remember no model shoot like this. Pentax must be a camera for landscape then!? I've never joined shoots arranged by Pentax but they continuously send club magazines to me. (= I have to pay annual fee. Is it llogical to keep the membership?, I suppose. )

I think I wandered from the subject. Sorry for that.

                            Hi Ian -

                            A very pleasing series.

If I had to choose just one it would be #2 in the second batch.
