  • Wax wings

A good number of these rare birds are coming into the UK this Winter probably because berry stocks in Scandinavia are low and we have plenty. These were part of group of about twenty that had been feeding on Hawthorn berry. Charming, noisy garrulous and stunningly beautiful birds about the size of a fat Blackbird.

    A larger crop of one:

Bohemian Waxwing in North America as we also get the Cedar Waxwing, a smaller, less colourful species.
Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it. Terry Pratchett.
