  • Very low light with E-M5

On a visit to the monastery at Paleokastritsa in Corfu I was minded to try and get some images inside the church. This was only allowed without flash and one of the brothers said that because it was so dark he had never seen a decent photograph with the usual lighting - a dozen or so candle bulbs. It was in fact extremely dark - appearing almost pitch black in the corners. Not to be daunted I had a go with the E-M5 at ISO 6400 and hand held with LV and MF. Quite surprised at the quality of the results and the amount of detail visible that we didn't even know was there.

Sorry I'm still working out how to copy from the image with my new Mac, can anyone help?

No they were RAW files, processed in Lightroom 4.2. A little work on highlights and shadows plus a little sharpening and NR.

Being cheeky...would you mind sending me the raw of the third one... I'd like to run it through Capture One 7

Great shots and tempting me even more to look at the EM-5. The results are fantastic, with good colour rendition and great detail it seems.

I often have problems with the E-400 with low-light internal shots and it's the main reason I want to upgrade as I feel it will open a new avenue: China has so many wonderful low-light evening opportunities.

I'm forcing myself to wait another 6 months as it's a tad too much for my budget.
