I know that there is a tendency to be critical of the Leica M9 (mainly I think because it is an expensive piece of kit) but I thought it is worth mentioning a most important feature of this camera. It is simply that almost every lens designed for the Leica M series of cameras since 1954 can be used on an M9 without any additional aid to fitting the lens (ie no need for an adapter). This image was taken using a 90mm F2.8 Elmarit M lens which was manufactured in 1995.

Wow! Such detail and texture, red flowers are such a difficult subject for me.

Did you boost it much in Elements?

That is just soooo realistic, so outstanding. those leaves and those colours are sll so spot on it's like one could reach out and feel them, pick a leaf.

That's what the red dot is all about, eh! I have a red spot too, only mine's the pocket version of the C-Lux 2. The only red spot I'm ever likely to own. But hey, so what.

        Top shot.

          David, Pops and Pol,

Thanks for the kind comments. I don't recall doing any processing of this image apart from a "crop". The camera, the flash and lens did all the work - all I had to do was get the focus right.

          Regards,

          Ray.

Hi Ray, Thats a really fine shot The camera has coped with the red very well, it's good to see what the more expensive camera has to offer in picture Quality. But I am very happy with my OMD-5 Regards John

                  John,

Thanks for the kind comments. I have just realised that the colour performance of the M9 reminds me of my E-1 - and - of course that should not be surprising since I believe that the Leica M9 and Olympus E-1 sensors are both Kodak CCD sensors.

                  Regards,

                  Ray.

                    David, Pops and Pol,

I realised belatedly that I should have added that the camera's electronic signals to the SD card were faithfully converted via my laptop into DNG by Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and then converted into JPeg images. I tend to take the almost miraculous imaging process very much for granted these days - I ought to know better !! I can still remember my first introduction to computer software in 1970 and the amazement that my first attempt at writing a simple program in Fortran 4 actually worked !!

                    Regards.

                    Ray.

                        Barrie,

Glad you both liked the image. I'm afraid I seem to spend a lot of my time photographing flowers.

                        Regards.

Lovely. I think the colours from the M8/M9 are superb.
