  • One from the Masai Mara

Got this one at a Masai village a few years ago. Jpeg from a Leica Digilux 2, horrid colours but extraordinary detail from a 5 megapixel 2/3rds sensor - a credit to the Summicron 28-90mm f2.

I have a load more from this trip that I will be posting occasionally.

I was wondering about the same thing.

The colours look good to me. We can't know how true the colours of the fabrics might be but the greens of the vegitation and the and the earth tones look good imho.

The colours of the Masais' robes are far too orange, in life they are much more of a dull crimson. minor attempts at correcting this in LR resulted in the colour looking too flat. This may be a jpeg problem, unfortunately in those days I wasn't using RAW.

If you use Lightroom, for example, you should be able to adjust individual hues quite precisely - would you mind if I had a go?

Is this heading in the right direction?

Re: One from the Masai Mara

Yes, thanks Ian. From what I remember (it was some years ago) the Masais' robes struck me as being fairly dull and your rendering has dulled the colours somewhat, so without a RAW file (and a decent memory) I find it difficult to say whether further processing is needed.
