  • Open Heritage Weekend

I always enjoy the Open Heritage Weekend, although I didn't manage to get to see a great deal on the Saturday this time as I had a stall at a craft fair during the morning.

We won't be booking via that organiser again: "massive advertising" (only on Facebook); "large poster" (an A3 sign outside the Northampton Saints ground). Footfall was pitiful, as were my takings!

After the fair had finished, we dashed into Northampton but only had time to visit one venue: the Jesus Centre, which was formerly the ABC cinema and has been restored by the Jesus Army to its' former art deco glory. I took a couple of photos inside, but the shot that stood out for me was taken from the roof:

The following day we fared a little better: we've been to most of the sites in Northampton now, so went down the motorway to Oxford where we managed to visit All Souls and St Mary's.

But first, we popped into the courtyard at the Bodleian Library (they weren't open for free this year), and this is the passageway through to the Radcliffe Camera:

A brass band was playing in the front quad of All Souls (very well). I was trying to get the reflections in the instruments, and then I spotted the little girl. The band were playing a selection of songs from the Bond movies and she knew and danced to every one.

Off to St Mary's - someone on another forum has commented that they've seen this passageway on Lewis:

Finally, some people may recognise this statue - the gate still wasn't open!

Shame about the lack of interest at the craft fare which appears to be mostly through a lack of advertising.
Your photographs illustrate that the weekend wasn't entirely wasted.
Judging by the way mum is clinging on the little girl appears to be very active

Thanks for sharing your weekend - pity the craft fair didn't have more footfall.

I think the third pic is really good, the tone and colours on a bright day handled well.

A day off for me - I put my back out last evening - I don't enjoy the spasms when I move, however I must try a walk to the pub and get some numbing liquid.

You must try another craft fair though, you show lots of goodies on the stall above.

      Regards. Barr1e

Thank you Pops and Barrie for your comments, and hope your back is feeling better Barrie - as a fellow sufferer, I sympathise. Mind you, in need of sympathy myself tonight - after a recent abscess, I booked myself in at the toothright and made a series of appointments for various treatments. Only one hygienist visit left now - the dentist combined 2 into 1 today and did a double filling followed by crown removal, tooth extraction and abscess clean up.
