  • A bit of retouching.

I posted an image yesterday in the "post photos you took today" thread, one of them had a builders van which was a bit distracting. I had a few minutes to spare today so I painted out the van, as well as a car, 8 people, some signs, and a wheelbarrow.

    Here's the before and after:

I think it is an improvement as my eye is now drawn to the main house instead of the white van. (Perhaps we could have a new competition in the forum called Spot the Difference).

    Regards,

    Geoff.

I get enjoyment when using brush/cloning tool etc.

You have improved an already nicely taken image of the house (apart from white man van ).

      Nice job Geoff.

Bloomin white vans, there always seems to be one about when you want to take a picture.
        Yes much better without.

I'm interested why your using ISO640,I know your Nikon is good at higher ISO but I'd have thought base was best in daylight.

          Re: A bit of retouching.

Thanks Pops Barrie & Andy for your comments.

The reason I used ISO 640 for that shot was mainly because I forgot to change it after the sun came out It was quite dull until a few minutes before and I also prefer a slightly faster film speed when out and walking about taking snaps to ensure that the shutter speed is adequate. I believe that one of the strong points with modern digital cameras is the reduction in noise using a high film speed compared to a few years ago.

Last week I was using my camera indooors using ISO3200 and a wide aperture which, using aperture priority, was giving me 1/60sec shutter speed in a dull room. When I went out in the sun I forgot to change my settings and took a few pictures before I realised. The pictures were not great but were all usable after a bit of noise reduction. The example below was taken at 1/6400 sec at f5.6

Nice job Geoff Content Aware Removal in some versions of Photoshop and now in CyberLink PhotoDirector 4 can also make cloning out unwanted objects surprisingly easy

I'm always cursing myself after having changed camera settings for an unusual shot and not changing them back later!

Thanks Ian, Ive not upgraded fro Photoshop CS4 yet so I don't have the benefit of Content Aware Removal tools so I still use the "old fashioned" methods. I've seen it in action but there are a lot of things that it can not do. Here's another bit of retouching that I've just done. I don't think the content aware tools could have done this

              Regards,
