Lovely set of images Horatio. I have difficulty finding a favourite as they are all so different.

I do like the yellow lichen on the rocks (very abstract) and the last one though.

They are all excellent, Horatio - I like them very much. The new equipment obviously works as well as the old!

Excellent set of images and a pleasure to view. Obviously a wonderful place to take a camera.

Hi Horacio, your new camera hasn't dimmed your natural skills (but has it improved them?). All these compositions are truly excellent as usual

By the way, I think 599 pixels wide is not doing your work justice - I recommend to everyone around 800 pixels wide.

Which lens or lenses did you go for?

Maybe that's a bit of a stretch for the D800!

Seriously, Horatio, that's a fantastic camera you have bought but I don't envy you for it. What I do envy you for is your vision and skill as a photographer!

Hi Ian, thank you for your coments. I own the 50mm f1,8, the 16-35mm f4, the 24-70mm f2,8 and the 80-400mm f 4,5-5,6. I do notice several improvements in the matrix measurement of the scene light, specially in contrasty scenes or in backlit situations, a much wider dynamic range, lack of noise at much higher ISOs, better overall sharpness without editing, and a lot more complexity in customizing the camera. I did not try yet to use the full resolution in enlargements and I am just begining to know the canmera. there are many more differencies compared with my E30. I decided to change because I wanted to upgrade and the E5 is already outdated. I did not see future in Olympus DSRL developemnt. I have been its fan for more than 40 years and had all the old models. Anyway, I really fill very happy (specially after the investment).

The D800 is definitely a superb camera although I do worry that you are a frequent traveler and the sheer weight and bulk of all that gear must be quite a challenge to bring with you! But I can't deny that a photographer of your proven talent should have the best equipment
