  • Saturday morning in the Delta

Coming to the end of my 9 o'clock meeting, office cleaner comes running into my conference room, "Boss Boss, big fire-o" Go and have a look and first thought is that it is coming from the back of my mess hall but closer look I can see it is further away so not overly concerned

Go into my 10 o'clock metting. Big booms Assistant Manager says that thunder is close. That ain't no thunder my son says I, the rain has stopped. Grab the camera and head into the Camp. Climb the stairs at the accommodation to get a better look

Jump in the car up to the riverside to get a better view.

Seemingly the Government Forces had had enough of people illegally bunkering and refining
Just because cliches are cliches does not make them wrong. I do like walking in the rain.

The next to last makes that smoke look deadly.
Better than any pics shown in a news bulletin

This is in Nigeria I believe?

Very dramatic - it's a different world; indeed our planet is full of different worlds.

Thanks guys. Yip, Nigeria Ian. My biggest worry to be honest was the wind changing direction and the smoke coming over the river. I have 7,500 people living in the camp and for sure would have caused a big problem.
