Congratulations to Ian and Julia too. You'll be having your 'Silver' before you know it.
It seems like only yesterday we had our 17th ... but it wasn't. Seems like only yesterday I was 17 too but ...

Re: 42 years today...
Oh the Joys
It is one of the few things in life I have never achieved that most of my friends have, a divorce :-).
In our 33rd year of marriage and as I am sure Barr1e will confirm, there is no substitute for a good woman. Not a clue where I would be in life today if it was not for her and really not somewhere my head likes to go. Congrats to all above. Marriage as an institution is not dead.Just because cliches are cliches does not make them wrong. I do like walking in the rain.

Re: 42 years today...
Congratulations Barrie and Anne. I hope that you avoided jokes about life sentences only being for half that time.
It was our 46th on June 4th and we were amazed that the whole village turned out. Pimms and strawberry garden party at the big house, sports and family event followed by hog roast and disco on the cricket field etc - they even lit a beacon for us in the evening!
I think the queen was celebrating something as well - shame she didn't have time to pop in to see us

You had me going for a minute there, thinking to myself, fat chance of anybody doing that for us!
Then my brain came into gear and I registered the date.

Re: 42 years today...
Anne says that's nothing - a service of thanksgiving at St Paul's was arranged for us but something better turned up, so we asked the queen to attend on our behalf.Originally posted by mike_j View Post...

Re: 42 years today...
Secret to a long happy marriage
An old woman was sipping on a glass of wine, while sitting on the patio
with her husband, and she says" I love you so much, I don't know how I could ever live without you".
Her husband asks "Is that you or the wine talking?".
She replies "It's me, talking to the wine."
