  • Norfolk visit

Another visit to our good friends in Norfolk produced a few new winged creatures to my library of images.
Our first day we visited Strumpshaw Fen and I was able to take my first red damselfly.

We returned a few days later on our way home.

There is a house close to Strumpshaw Fen owned by Dr Martin George and his wife. They have planted the front garden with an array of plants which attract butterflies, one namely is the Swallowtail - not there when we called.
Walking back down the lane after our chat with the doctor we saw a group of photographers who were taking pix of newly emerged swallowtails - Ann1e and I of course joined them. We only managed a few side views before they fluttered away - as time was pressing we didn't stay to get the opened wing pic - however, I'm pleased to have taken such a rare butterfly.

The damsel is a real beauty but I am so envious of that swallowtail and with a perfect background as well. One I have never had in the garden.

      Great insect pics.

Dammit Barrie I am going to have to come down your way so you can show me where all these insects are, I have only seen two orange tips so far this year around my Country Park.
      Regards Paul.
One day I hope to be the person my dogs think I am.

While you are at it, Paul - get him to show you where those kingfishers are too

I have never managed to get a damsel fly that well, let alone a beautiful red one!
