As an aside, I always cut my pics down to 600 pixels in Photoshop before posting them. Is this still the correct thing to do? Just I see a few in the galleries that are way bigger and obviously, in my opinion, look a lot better because of it.
Anyway, a couple from New York. Came away without my Vegas ones so cannot process them :-(
Just because cliches are cliches does not make them wrong. I do like walking in the rain.

You can upload pics larger than 600pixels. I usually aim for around 850pixels width but the gallery will accept them at around 900 width no problem.
Just be sure to keep the length no more than around 800 pixels otherwise some people might need to scroll to see them.
Panoramas can be about 1600 pix wide too.
Nothing is likely to be rejected from the galleries but try to keep the size as described above if you intend putting the picci in a forum posting (to avoid peeps having to scroll sideways or up/down to view it within the thread).
File sizes can be around 250-300k too (though I aim for less than 200k if I can possibly manage it). Plenty of gallery pics are around 350k - they just use up your allotted space more quickly and take longer to load.
If you ever need more gallery space, just PM or email Ian and he'll help you out with more space.
And that's a very nice picci of the cute little 'skwirl'.
