    You captured the occasion nicely.
I kept going back to the 2nd shot though. Such a happy smile and the subject really jumps out of the photo.

Oooo that looks like it was a lot of fun!

It's not every day you get that sort of photo opportunity. Lucky you for being near enough to watch AND to be able to get such a good selection of pics.

Good for you and thanks for sharing the pics of such a memorable event.

You've captured some great expressions and animations, a really excellent set. Do you think the local press might be interested in some of these?

thanks all. i felt it was important to try to get the candid shots that told more of the story - showing the anticipation etc - which can all too easily be missed.

john - they'll be sent as part of my usual weekly uploads, although i suspect they'll be inundated this week with OTR shots ;-)
i know one of their reporters / snappers was on the back of the press van (3rd from last shot), so it's the other shots that will probably have more worth.

That's the first time I have seen the torch although it visited my daughters school a while ago and she held it and got her picture taken with it!! (still have not seen the picture!)

Re: olympic torch relay - barry 26.5.2012

the lad in the green t-shirt is my nephew. i've got another shot of him with the torch 'shopped into his hand . i'll add it when i'm back home tonight.

gotta say, with barrybados being blessed with sunlight that day, it made a huge difference, both to the photos and the number of people that turned out. we were also fortunate in that the torch route through bazra took in about 6 miles of major roads so people had ample space to spread along the route.

my favourite shot was the one of the 3 kids looking down the road as the relay approaches (the shot above the female copper on the bike) with the one girl turning around as if to say "it's coming!". unfortunately, the focus point was about 2-3m beyond them, so they're slightly out of focus.

was also pleased with the eye contact i got with sam, the relay runner on that leg (you can read his story here - http://www.london2012.com/torch-rela...m-adamson-688/). the conspicuous white lens comes in handy at times

My own favourite shots are the fifth one (the fella in red leaping in mid-air) and the first shot of the relay runner, the one where you have all of him in the frame with the yellow car behind him.

That's also a very moving story about Sam. Well done that young man!

Super set, Dave - many thanks for sharing. I'm looking forward to their arrival in Hemel - but well over a month to wait yet!

yeah, the coca cola guy was very obliging. he was doing the leaps every 25m or so, but i was on the wrong side of the road (wisely he was staying in the shade of the bus), quick re-locate and a nod to say "go on mate, do it again...." and job done .

taking the monster lens pays off at times

                            Wicked!

You could fool the online DM readers no bother with that. I dare bet not one of their reader/posters would scream "Photoshoppery".
