More gig pictures

These were from last week's gig in a village hall not far from me.

The lighting was particularly challenging, so they're all pretty high iso - since I'd only met the various bands once before, I wasn't sure how they'd feel if I started shooting them with flash and mini softbox so these are all without flash.

The first band on were Jackhammer, who'd come down from north Lincs. think I was spotted on this one:


Bass players are always very laid back:



The second band were Stone Cold Mary (finally beginning to get their name right, as I was asked to shoot Cold Stone a while back.... confusion and old age, I reckon). A very tight blues band, thorough enjoyed them.

The next two were taken at ISO 2500 and 1/40:





And my favourite of the evening was taken at iso400 and 1/60

Love the lighting and processing on no2 and 5 Caz, very moody indeed, and I doubt you would have got that with flash.

Hi Carol,
I enjoyed them all - especially the second and also the second to the last. The black part of the bottom/foreground of the second is imho too big and wide and does not serve much to add attractiveness to this photo. So it looks to me better if it is a bit trimmed out, maybe around a quarter from the bottom. Then the musicain becomes larger and more impressive.
The second to the last is just amazing.

I'm a landscaper myself so have very limited experiences and knowledge for taking photos in the darkness. All the more I always worship your imperial Highness Princess of Darkness.

These really capture the atmosphere and make great use of the challenging light.

Anyway, Yoshi - constructive criticism is always welcome. Critique away - although it'd be difficult for that bass guitarist to be larger as he's about my height (in other words, short!)
