  • A day out at Coughton Court

I've not been posting much lately, apart from the "where am I" forum - mainly because what I've been taking has been gig photography, which has a limited audience (and you can only post so many shots of snow...). But the National Trust properties are open again, and we paid our first visit a couple of weeks ago.

We went to Coughton Court in Warwickshire (between Stratford-upon-Avon and Alcester). Well worth a visit, fasincating history - and next time I try to use an image for "where am I" I must remember to remove the place from the file name!

We weren't able to visit the original church due to a private service. St Peter's was changed to Anglican after the Reformation and the Throckmorton family weren't able to build a Catholic church on their estate until 1855. The first image is of the Green Man inside St Peter, St Paul & St Elizabeth - with excess wiring for a heater removed.

We arrived just after 1pm - and were lucky to get one of the last timed tickets for entry to the house, which wasn't until 4.30pm so went off on a walk around the grounds and the lake:

Unfortunately the walled garden was closed, but we did have a wander through the orchard:

Finally, we made it into the house - Coughton is one of the NT properties where you're allowed to use your camera inside as long as you don't have a tripod/use flash. I took a couple, but this was favourite - Time for Tea:

You can also go up on to the roof (I've tried to go for a miniature look here, not sure how successful it is!)

We were one of the last out of the house - the house has to be cleared by just after 5.30pm as the family use the dining room from 6pm onwards. This is a slightly over the top HDR of the rear of the property from the gardens.

Off to London this weekend for our anniversary. I will, of course, be taking my camera - but since we're staying just outside London we've had to arrange with the theatre that they put it somewhere safe. They'd put on their website that anyone coming in with a camera would be refused entry

A nice set, particularly "Time for Tea." I don't mind seeing some gig photography.

That last one is very impressive, Caz - love the perspective with the huge glow behind. Nicely balanced light

Really nice set of pictures Caz. 2 and 3 are my faves. Hope you get your camera back from wherever "safe" they keep it for you !

Thank you for your kind comments.

Dropping off/collecting my camera at the Garrick was a bit of a faff, but at least it wasn't me that kept getting shouted at during the performance of Chicago!

Just starting to work through my shots of last weekend - fabulous day in the British Museum but SO crowded!

Note for Ian - you may not have noticed in the EXIF, but I've upgraded to a 7D
