  • Red Kite and Kingfisher pix

The day we chose for photographing red kite was quite mixed weather wise. Minutes of clear blue skies followed by long lapses of greyness with a hint of sun. We were fortunate to find a few as the pix below show. One even posing for the camera.

A walk along the canal this afternoon produced perhaps for the first time a kingfisher sitting on boughs rather than amongst the brambles. A first also for me, whilst focusing on the bird (sitting) I was just depressing the button and he decided to fly off.

Taken with the Olympus E-5 - red kites with the 50-200 + 1.4 converter in A. Mode - Kingfishers 70-300 lens with similar settings.

    Regards. Barr1e

A lovely set Barrie - I see what you mean about the sky though: the second image of the kite has a beautiful deep blue sky. I also like the tail dip and the fingers. And as for the kingfishers..... just gorgeous.

The last one is a real beauty.
Can't help but notice the huge difference in the sky between 1 and 2. Must have been a heck of a day.

I love the first one. Whatever sun there was has picked out the bird beautifully against that grey sky.
