Re: A couple of pictures from this week
I see that's what the horse thinks of your photography
Those tree pix are begging to be played with - how about adding grain, contrast, mono conversion, play with curves/levels?

Re: A couple of pictures from this week
Yes I agree Ian it does need something, Ive only got elements 8 so bit restricted. Would be interesting to know what they could look like with someone who knows what they are doing.Originally posted by Ian View PostI see that's what the horse thinks of your photography

Re: A couple of pictures from this week
Great variety here, I love the symmetry of the first shot and the way the aircraft echoes the shapes of the markers. The horse's expression is priceless and a great capture. However, the tree is really my sort of subject and looks wonderful with that misty background. I won't profess to knowing what I'm doing but I couldn't resist a play in Elements 9.

First, I noticed that the histogram was compacted and not making full use of the range of hilights or shadows so I moved each slider inwards to meet either edge of the graph. Next I boosted contrast by 40, which is much more than I usually do but as it is a low contrast image to start with I thought the image could stand it. Primarily I wanted to make the tree stand out from the delicious misty background a little more. Next I added what I hope is a subtle amount of noise to give a grainy texture and finally gently blue toned using filters before re-sharpening.
What do you think? Have I enhanced or ruined a lovely photograph? Can anyone else suggest an alternative enhancement?

Re: A couple of pictures from this week
Wow what a difference John, and thanks for writing down how you reached the final picture It has brought out the tree in the way I had originally envisioned the picture but didnt know how to get to that result. I dont really do much B/W but wanted to go that way to bring out the mood that colour would have lost.
Thanks

Nice series of pix Mowgli especially the horse. I wonder if the fence is electrified and he/she was getting a buzz from it.
I like the re-work John - I shall try your technique out on some misty shots of the canal I took earlier in the week.
