  • I'm not happy

I'm not happy, firstly, I noticed this scene some days ago and I had hoped on my return today it would excite as much as it did then - unfortunately the snow had fallen from the members of the big tree. I think this one works though.

    Melting snow - Tree

Secondly, Anne and I discovered recently where we think some Red Kite are roosting and having travelled to the area today taking a risk on a single track road with much of it covered in ice. Having found a farm entrance to safely park in and keeping a good distance from the birds, imagine our discomfort to see and hear a dog and owner walking along the very ridge where the birds were flying and hearing said person suddenly shouting who's that down there. Shouting, barking did not go down well with us or either the kites. Just to add to my miseries my back which I put out the other day was not happy either!

Oh well, here are a few distant ones, a couple I think might not be adults.

Taken with Olympus E-5 + 50-200 lens coupled with the 1.4 converter - hand held. The lens used for the tree 12-60. All A.mode f6.3 to f.8 ev -0.7 etc

I'm hopeful to post some more when the opportunity arises.

The tree shot works for me Barr1e and, the in flight shots have come out very well especially the last one.
    An afternoon not entirely wasted

        Hi Pops -

        Thanks.
I enjoyed getting out of the house after being grounded by the back for a couple of days. Surprising how sometimes a stark scene can look OK. It will all start changing soon as spring might be early - subject to warming.

        Hi Carol -

I'm pleased that at least I got one in the bag. I wish they had been a little closer. They are a great looking bird, especially with a blue sky and the sun warming the backs of them.

        Regards. Barr1e

Hi Barrie - they are beautiful birds, although I have to travel a little to see them. Mind you, I can't look too hard when I do - it's generally as I approach High Wycombe on the M40. I'll never forget coming off the motorway and popping into a supermarket: I appeared to be the only one constantly looking up with my mouth open as about a dozen wheeled overhead.

I keep meaning to go to Rockingham Forest in the north of Northamptonshire: I've heard there's a lot there.
          Regards
          Carol
