  • Power Hungry

Although the weather has been very cold and our favourite walk, the canal, being frozen over - time to look for alternative views.

Common Buzzard I thought this was a Red Kite, that is, until David Morrison pointed out my error over on www.fourthirds-user.com (thanks )

In the garden of .....who could resist taking this scene - a narrow boat who has permanent mooring rights has a small garden with many bird feeders, quite an attraction for the larger birds when the canal is frozen. There can't be much dropped from them for a meal - not for two anyway.

Moon - well half of it

    Power Hungry?

As always taken with the Olympus E-5 with the 70-300 lens taken in A.mode etc

All very well taken especially the buzzard.
I do think the 2nd is just begging for a caption though

      Hi Pops -

After looking through some 200 pix of Red Kite taken today both Anne (Ann1e) and I are somewhat disappointed with our results. The distance between us and them was just too great and they just seemed content to joust with one another at tree top height and not flying closer to us. We both suffered with blocks of ice where our feet were - we were wrapped up pretty well too. Another day perhaps.

Thanks for your comments - I don't always respond to compliments or otherwise as I feel I am bumping the thread I put up. I always appreciate the time others give to make comments though or just popping in to look.

      Regards. Barr1e

The tail of the red kit is different, isn't it? But a nice capture anyway!

How's the snow? My car is stranded on Lawn Lane as there was no way I could get back up the hill to our house after picking the girls up from their school near Nash Mills (next to Bunkers Lane) after the final performance of their school play in the evening (The Tempest - excellently done too!).

The tail should have helped I think, along with the wing detailing. I could blame it on tiredness, but it truth I think it was sloppiness or impatience with the ID.

At least you managed to get close to home and pleased you all enjoyed the earlier part of the evening.

As for the weather here - I think the pic below shows. The tubs are a recent purchase and have yet to be filled.
