I spent the morning looking for the kingfishers in vain due to the canal being covered by ice after a frosty night. I was fortunate in that I decided to walk a little further in case the canal was suitable for the birds to fish. It was on my return just a few minutes later I spotted an animal on the frozen surface. Imagine my surprise as I got a little nearer . It was not bothered with me photographing its gorging.
Mink dines

The sound of the camera clicking attracted the animal and it looks straight at it.

Licking lips

Rest before eating again

Some three plus hours later (after my pub lunch) just the carcass remains with an exit in the rushes.

E-5 - 70-300 lens - A mode - f7.1ish - iso 250 - ev -0.7 etc
