  • Kingfisher regurgitating

Kingfisher one Ann1e and I were fortunate today in seeing three kingfishers, over a stretch of about 5 miles - two of which were females.

We have fingers crossed for these birds as parts of the canal were frozen over - they will perish unless they fly to the coast where conditions won't be as harsh.

Another regurgitating a pellet of undigested food.

Looking quite bright after losing its pellet. She didn't have to wait long before the next fish.

    Seagull reflection

    E-5 + 70-300 lens - A. mode - F.8ish - iso varied - ev -0.7 etc

Excellent shots. Hopefully the weather will improve so they don't need to take off to the coast.

That's an especially good shot of regurgitating the pellet.

Very good shots indeed especially the most unusual 2nd shot.

Well done Barr1e! Are you sure you don't have any spare kingfishers to send a little further south?

          Pol, Pops and Ian -

          Thanks.

We were fortunate in that we had time once again photographing them when they were digesting, apart from the male. Normally they let you get to within a few metres and one step too many and they are off although they are on the opposite side of the canal.

          Regards. Barr1e
