    Re: Portrait of Innocence

Jocelyn it's a nice portrait but it is just not sharp and especially around the eyes where it is most important.

I'm cannot understand why you would use these setting for a portrait and the low shutter speed and hand holding at 200mm is definitely the cause of this.

    Model NIKON D5000
    Shutter Speed 1/25 s
    F-Number f/32
    ISO ISO 320
    Exposure Bias Value 0.33 eV
    Metering Mode Pattern
    Flash Flash did not fire
    Focal Length 200 mm
    Date/Time Original 11/11/2011 15:13:37
    Regards Paul.
One day I hope to be the person my dogs think I am.

Despite the lack of sharpness you captured a wonderful expression of curiosity

        Re: Portrait of Innocence

I did not have time to fiddle with settings as had to change lenses at last minute anyhow to get the pic! We were about to disembark from the ferry & had to take pic quickly & get back in car!

I can't say I've ever done portrait photography before & would love to learn how to take a good, sharp image.

Maybe the photo is slightly improved by converting to B&W where the contrast can be increased!

interesting. Did you just change from the color to the B&W?
As, I thought first that you applied a soft filter effect.

                  Re: Portrait of Innocence

Jocelyn I think the colour version works much better.

This image can be improved, here I did a little judicious work in Elements 9 including some selective sharpening .

For your consideration, just tell me when you want me to delete them from the gallery.

Also adding some grain and giving it a old fashioned feel helps to disguise the unsharpness.

                  Regards Paul.
