Fireworks time again!

Was lucky to attend a private display last night. These were all taken on a tripod, with a 28mm equivalent focal length view:

I think we were lucky as November 5th Guys Fawkes night is looking to be rather wet this year in many parts of the country.

Cracking images Ian, would really like to have a go if the weather's not too bad this year.
There are displays all around the local villages (not in ours, we don't seem to do it) - the one that really interests me will be held on the 6th at the local reservoir, to music - so it'd be fireworks and reflections!

These are really good, Ian

But ( being still a novice ) I find your camera settings to be odd, to me.

I use ISO1600, 1/125 sec and f1.8 and find I can get a more detailed image.

Well, 1/125th means I expect you will only get very short trails - they will look like dashes. And f/1.8 risks the shots being out of focus because of very limited depth of field, although once you have nailed the focus that problem should be solved.

Can we see some examples?

I'm sure we are all shocked and saddened by the horrific pile up and fire on the M5 near Taunton the other day. It may well have been caused by smoke from a fireworks display unexpectedly obscuring drivers' vision.

The display that Panasonic laid on for us at Beaumont House last week so we could use the new GX1 cameras at night was near a Heathrow Airport flightpath and the organisers needed to get clearance from the authorities.

It's a horrendous tragedy. One report mentioned that the organisers and the rugby club had liaised over the organising of the event but I've yet to see anything official to that effect.
