  • A wander around Caversham

From late last Sunday afternoon, walking along the Thames armed with my m4/3rds gear

Looking down stream towards Reading bridge

An interesting stair structure to exterior of an office along side the Thames

    An open sluice gate

Leadscrews which control the sluice gates

    Goose

    Thanks for looking

Edit: I had intended to put this in 'Eye of the Camera' but mistakenly added it to 'Photo critique' oh well never-mind

Have moved the thread for you Huw.

The second is my favourite of these. I like the clarity of the stair structure and the mono treatment is well suited.

Thanks for moving the thread, I appreciate that.

Thanks also for the comments Pops, funnily enough (or perhaps not so funny) it happens to be the Thames Water Utilities building

Nice to see caversham again (even if it's not bits I recognise) it's been years since inwas there. I think the screws/sluce detail is my favourite. All the textures.

Thanks Eddie, yes I know how it is hard sometimes to place a photo especially if it's not obvious. I suppose the one that is likely to be most familair is the shot in the direction of Reading bridge (which isn't visible btw) taken from the south bank foot path.

What a nice series - so enjoyed viewing them.

I like the screw shot as much as the others, but it has the edge for me.

Nice set, Huw - lovely tonality; only the goose might have a bit of blown highlights. Thanks for sharing!

                  Thanks Ian
Yes you are right the goose does have a spot of over exuberance in the highlight region , shame really, I should have been paying a bit more attention to that when I took it

                    Re: A wander around Caversham

Absolutely love the first river scene photo & last pic of duck. The staircase shot is interesting, however my personal opinion would be that the photo would benefit from an increased contrast on stair structure.

Thank you for your kind comments Jocelyn, I take your point about the contrast with the staircase, I may revisit some PP with that one
