  • Cold

While in Monterey we went on a whale watching trip. The boat was small, the sea choppy and the wind was cold. I'd also managed to misplace my jacket which made it worse.

I looked over and saw this lady sitting outside, she summed up how I imagine many of us felt. Had the 300mm on my camera so grabbed my girlfriends for this.

    Hope you like it.

A great candid shot, just a shame about the guy's arm

      Re: Cold

I agree with pops, I would also add the subject is nicely framed with door opening.

          Re: Cold

Thanks, you are of course correct, but I a) didn't want to do too much editing b) I wasn't sure i'd be able to do it well.

I've had a go just as an exercise:

Sadly the jacket is gone forever. The hotels haven't found it so it's out in the wild, or wandered off after we checked out. :'(

                  Re: Cold

Another forum told me to crop closer, not sure what i think of if this is too much.

                    Re: Cold

Either work but I think the original gives you a little more of a feeling for the context and location / situation.

Edit: I think I still prefer the uncropped version.

                      Re: Cold

thanks Huw, I agree, it's more obvious I was shooting out of a door way etc.

People are something i rarely shoot though so need all the advice i can get!

                        Re: Cold

I prefer the original with the arm cloned out. The cropped version seems to lose its candid appeal
