Re: Don't worry it's not poisonous...
Nice ones. I like seeing the detail on the head, especially on the second shot.
Our neighbour has a very large garden mainly laid to lawn, which they don't cut as often as they should. They sometimes get grass snakes. The snake(s) sometimes curl up under pots in and around their untidy, rarely used greenhouse too. I usually know when she's spotted one because she screams.

Re: Don't worry it's not poisonous...
Thanks Pol, these are pretty tight crops as I should have really swapped lenses (but didn't think I would have the time) or got closer. This is the first one I have photographed
Your neighbour's garden sounds a bit like ours, except I do try to keep the grass cut with reasonable regularity, perhaps I should go hunting for snakes

Nice capture Huw, the last time I saw a grass snake or adder was over ten years ago, and I go round my local country park everyday.

Nobody's garden could be quite like their chaotic mess; that would be impossible! The house is for sale atm so she's had the garden tidied up, lawn relaid and reseeded etc so maybe the snakes have cleared off, hopefully not in our direction!Originally posted by Greytop View PostThanks Pol, these are pretty tight crops as should have really swapped lenses (but didn't think I would have the time) or got closer. She doesn't often see them but when she did they were almost always curled under an upturned plant pot or under old logs, branches etc under the conifers along the bottom fence or alongisde a huge conifer hedge they had near the greenhouse. I suspect they were breeding around there.
I make sure my husband keeps a close eye on ours. I love seeing wildlife coming and going in the garden but I'd be less than thrilled to have snakes slithering about.
