Re: Feeding Time
We saw some grebes at the lake in Hatfield Forest and there was one very noisy youngster (Julia thought it was an unusual stripey ducklying
) and a parent that - to be frank - seemed a bit disinterested and in the half an hour we watched didn't feed it once. Maybe the fishing was poor at the time. It's funny to see the adult dive and then maybe 15 seconds later resurface maybe 20 feet away. The youngster seemed very confused!

Re: Feeding Time
It's interesting that the fish being fed to the youngster is a perch, as in most cases I've seen of this feeding behaviour it is nearly always a perch. Considering that the perch is a coarse scaled, spiny fish it would seem to me to be the least suitable to push down young gullets. Very nice shot though.
