    Castle from the side/rear

Post Box Chiddingstone Castle has its own postbox, an original 'Penfold'. This is the earliest type of postbox, a hexagonal pillar designed by J.W.Penfold in 1866. It was moved here from St Pancras in London

Lovely images Barrie. Unfortunately it's a bit too far for us to travel. I think we must see a few more of the NT properties in our area.

    Thanks for sharing.

That does look like a nice castle, it reminds me a bit of another one but can't think which.

I'll have to go see where it is now and maybe plan a visit.

Judging by the first shot it looks like a full day out to view inside

            Hi Pops -

If the weather is dry photographing the castle and grounds will take up a couple of hours, then a cuppa or lunch in the castle tea room.
After viewing the inside and then walking to the village (three or four minutes or so) looking around, then the church grounds etc. I guess the visit will take up about four to five hours.

            We enjoyed our time there.

            Regards. Barr1e

I'll have to try and get over that way next time I visit the parents.

It looks just my kind of place but what a shame it's not NT so I'd get free parking and entrance!

A lovely series of shots Barrie - I'm always a sucker for naturally framed shots, so was drawn to the one of the village through the gates.
