  • Venice pano revisited

    My first attempt from 2008

My first visit to Venice was in June 2008 and I took a stitched pano from the top of the Campanile in St.Mark's Square of the cathedral and the Doge's Palace below (see above) , but it wasn't quite wide enough, so with my second opportunity and 8 donor images I had another go and here is the result.

    Taken last week!

I've used a non-linear horizon on the this one, but quite a lot off the top and bottom had to be cropped off, unfortunately.

      Hi Ian
I actually prefer the 2008 one it is much easier on the eye and appears to have more contrast and definition.
That said i find the shadow of the tower interesting, were you there about an hour earlier in the day than your previous visit

Yes the first 'new' one, was a bit too light, so I darkened the second - it's closer to the original, but yes the 2008 one was mid to late afternoon on a hot end of June day, and the new one was lunch time at the end of April, sunny, clear, and about 24C.
