    Do take plenty of water if you visit - it gets very hot during the day. Vendors are at the entrance selling drinks and goodies.

    Akumal Beach

    This beach is truly beautiful - many locals choose this area along with the visitors. The tourist visit to snorkel, fish and swim with the turtles. Should you have chance to visit, make your way to Lucy's Kitchen (a small shack at the entrance/exit to Akumal in a side street and enjoy a huge scoop of delicious ice cream, one of the best we have tasted.

      I love places like this. I like to touch the stones and imagine what the people who built the place were like. Being in touch with all that history is great. My other half just looks at me in a weird way when I bang on about history.

        Thanks both.

        I felt I belonged there. Just think away from the complications that rule us nowadays. Of course, back then no medicines of today which prolong our lives so successfully.

          I'm with Josh - the last one is great (they are all very interesting!) - great tone - you had great light.

          I visited Mexico briefly with the family as a teenager, but only for the day and just over the Californian border, so South America is one of those big places I haven't yet been to... properly. One day!
