  • First Bugs of the season.

April is still early for insects here as it may be 80* f one day and snowing the next. So I was happy to find a few about to start working out taking macros with the E 5.

    E 5, 35mm, EC 20, FRF

    A leaf Hopper

    Who knows

This fly, I shot at arms length over my head using live view. Not ideal but like I said, bugs are scarce right now.

I'll be glad when summer gets into full swing and I have more to shoot.

    Thanks for looking

I'm going to enjoy following your season, of macro photography, Jim!

I like macro photography, but find my macro work is a bit hit and miss.

So I am hoping to learn something here.

Your second " Who knows " Leaf hopper is very similar to one we have here.

The detail on the fly is very good. Something that I cant get right yet.

Re: First Bugs of the season.

Thank you Garry. I only hope the season goes well.

I have probably focused too much on macro the last few years but I find the details of the insects fascinating. The hunt for them and getting as close as I have to (usually a inch or so) is a rewarding challenge for me.

Any time anyone is interested in how I do it, what I use or even being pointed in the direction of macro shooters much better than myself, I'd be more than happy to discuss it.

Once you get use to it, it's not that bad honest.
