DNA diversity

I think it was Ash who said that there are some places that you return to again and again - with me, it's a statue in Northampton to commemorate the local man, Francis Crick, who was one of the scientists who discovered DNA. The statue itself attracts a lot of criticism, and is something you either love or hate. As for me, it's various angles and aspects fascinate me, as does the reactions of passersby.

The first image was taken in November at sunset. I came out of a shop and thought...... I just need to stay around for a bit.

I'm pretty sure that I've posted some more images of this statue before, but I was in Northampton on Saturday afternoon when the sun was just starting to fade, and I liked the golden light it was casting on the statue. This was taken underneath of the statues, shooting straight up:

And finally (for the time being, I'm sure I'll be back) this is the first time I've managed to catch a reflection in the stainless steel. I was standing in the middle of the semi-helix - by this time the sky was very, very blue and the reflection in the steel just didn't seem right.

The first shot is most pleasing, especially as I haven't seen the statue before. I too like the angles etc and it is set off so well with the sunset.

Beautiful sunset in a lovely city!
It would be nice to have this photogenic city as the place you visit often.

BTW you carry a camera even while shopping!?

iirc it is the fence of a farm in Ash's case. I like the one he posted around three years ago. It was taken also at sunset, I guess. I tried to find it at the gallery but I could not.

I also have a few places where I often visit depending on seasons.

Thanks for the replies chaps - yes, I was thinking of Ash and his fence when I posted this.

Yoshi - I always have some kind of camera with me, usually a compact but generally take my DSLR when I go out at weekends. Sad, isn't it!

Glad you liked it - give me a shout if you come up, it's been ages since I've seen you and Julia.

You might give me some tips on shooting the other statue down the street, which I've not managed to capture to my satisfaction yet! That's 2 children playing on a giant cobblers last, very appropriate for the town's history.
