I took 77 pix of this juvenile heron over a period of a couple of hours today. He/she like me didn't catch much else. It was a grey day with little around.
There was boat movement after the canal lost its icy coating - some three inches in places. The boaters were complaining about the water level being OK on the higher ground but very low either side of the hill at Tring. In fact one got stuck but with help from passers by the lady was cleared from the muddy bottom.
You can see from the pic how low the level is the heron is wading in mud.
I came face to face with a very good looking red fox, beautiful bushy tail. I felt it was one of those if only days again - it ran before I could focus on it. I have never been so close to one in the wild before, it was say, two metres distance between camera and fox.
This is a fair reward though. I hope you like it.
