  • Post op recuperation - Olympus E5 at ISO 6400

We have been looking after a Staffordshire Terrier for a friend. This dog had surgery to a joint four months ago, the joint is now fine and the muscles on the leg need building up.
I took her for her therapy yesterday and wanted to record some images. I left the flash unit at home and the built-in flash proved to be ineffective for the focal distances involved. I was left with no choice but to use high ISO. Here are some of my attempts with the E5 at mostly ISO 6400.

Enjoying the jacuzi at the end of the exercises.

Getting a little encouragement after surf boarding and before swimming.

    In the swim.

More images can be found at this url.

    Hope you like these.
    Comments etc welcome as always
    Kind regards

Re ISO 6400 - cracking images, and not much noise. My camera just can't cope that high (although it allegedly goes up to 12800) and the most I've used is 3200.

I particularly like the first shot = those eyes!

Thank you Carol. I am finding that I am taking risks to get photographs where I would never have attempted to before. Yes, they are soft from a purist point of view but what can be expected at such a high iSO. At least I have images that can be printed and kept by the owner. She has not been able to attend up to now and is pleased to have the pictures.
      Kind regards

Aaaaah. She looks as though she's quite enjoying the therapy and certainly seems to be getting lots of love and encouragement, bless her.

I'm sure her owners will be delighted with the pics. I'm also sure the files will produce some excellent prints for the album.

Who cares about purists? Molly won't be worrying about them.

Hi Pol, Thanks for your reply

I am not that sure that Molly is enjoying it too much as it is very intensive therapy. The jacuzzi is definately the best bit for her though and hence the big smile.

This was her second session with another due tomorrow. I shall have to try and acclimatise the camera before Molly gets in the building. I shall also take the flash with me to try and be more conventional in the photography.
The owner is pleased with the images and I hope to get better ones tomorrow.
By the way, I forgot to say - Happy New Year
          Kind regards
