  • A traditional Boxing Day

We went down the local pub for the traditional entertainment - the Mummers Play, followed by the Morris team.

The entry of King George (usually, he's Saint George, but the names change slightly every year, as does the script):

The play is usually performed twice - once inside the pub, as above, and then outside in the car park. The image above was taken at ISO3200 usually what available light there was.

After a slight break to pass round the hat and for liquid refreshment, everyone decamps outside to the car park. These images were taken from an HD video I took:
    The killing of King George:

This is the administration of the third dose of medicine, after the drunken Doctor has given the ailing King first a small and then a larger pill, both of which are spat out. (Unfortunately the image of the larger pill - a table tennis ball, is unclear). This is the magical "Pils" or, as it says on the bottle: "super Pils, certified cr*p foreign beer):

Finally, the local Morris team dances to carols. This is usually in the car park but, as can be seen above, it wasn't safe this year so the road outside the pub was closed to traffic for a while.
