  • Very little snow here...

As I've said in a previous thread we got off lightly (this time) although it's surprising how different it can be when you travel 10 miles. I've been able to get through to Towcester very easily this week but had a day course in Maidenhead on Wednesday so I drove to Brackley where I was getting a lift. I live in what counts for a remote village in Northamptonshire - although there are plenty of villages dotted about, the nearest town is about 10 miles and my way to work is down a partially single-track road for 2 miles before I see any grit! We were fine but on arriving in Brackley I had to drive onto a housing estate - fine.... walking from my car to my lift's car - down I went, so I spent the day in a fog of painkillers. (not how to impress the boss!)

Here are a couple of images from last week - the first was taken with my DSLR and is the stream that runs alongside the Water Meadows behind my office. Quite what the local yobbos were hoping to achieve, I have no idea:

The second was taken with my compact - and I hasten to add I was stationary at a junction. Can't remember if this was the first or second I was stuck behind...

    Re: Very little snow here...

We had a similar fall of snow. Your first pic has been helped I see with the local artists. I think they believe they can break the ice!

    Sorry about your tumble.
Anne slipped on ice last year and had to be taken to hospital to repair a nasty gash on the back of her head. No stitches, just glue.

Another week and we will all think spring has come.

    Regards. Barr1e

I do hope Anne is Ok after her tumble. It's taken 2 years since my original fall to get Xrays and I've just started physiotherapy to see if I can get my lower spine moving again as they've now discovered that I collapsed a vertebra when I took the short cut from the top of the step ladder out of the loft. Bone scan due in a fortnight to see if it's osteoporotic .

I was out and about for a little while in my lunch hour (apart from the fact that I didn't quite make the full hour) and took a few more today:

      Frosted web:

This was taken from the field leading to the stream I took last week - which now has a lot more rubbish in there, including an old bath.

The dog (small creature down the bottom right of the image) was gorgeous, and very friendly.

Finally, I saw these gentlemen decorating the Town Hall (err which is why it's called Deck the Hall, sorry).

They saw me taking the frozen web (though I don't think they know I got them) and asked if I'd like to go up in the cherry picker. I said yes, but then said I wished I'd got my DSLR with me... so, weather permitting, I shall be going up tomorrow.
