Roger, I notice you have specialised in the celebration of local culture and tradition in your region of France and was impressed to see in some of your other pictures that some of the younger generation are keeping these traditions alive.

Hear hear. I used to visit Normandy a lot about 20 years ago, but never managed to capture anything like this.

I also like to see your images from France.

How long have you lived in France Roger?

              Re: Outdoor Lessons In Needlework

Yes Ian, all things traditional are very well supported here by all age groups. It is helped of course by the fact most of the tradition here is Celtique in origin with very close links to Wales and Ireland. During the summer I think that there are probably more Irish musicians here than there are in Ireland.
Another factor that helps to keep the past alive is Brittany's, or rather Bretagne's long battle for independence from France, which militants continued into the 1950s, and the consequent reluctance of the French government to develop Bretagne. That is why Bretagne is still waiting for the modern, high speed, road and rail links that it needs.
It all makes it a very interesting area to live in if you dig around a little.
