  • Sparrowhawk

I left home a little later today due to the mist. Even when I got to the location at 1100hours it was making little effort in clearing.
I had gone with an idea in mind, which unfortunately due to the weather will have to be left to another day.

Fortunately when you have a camera in your hands, there is one thing you must do with it - take pix.

    Frosty Steps in Natural

    Frosty Steps Dramatic Tone

    Landing Beacon in the mist.

    Towards Eddlesborough in the mist.

...and then when I was reversing the car to leave to meet Anne I spotted a bird hovering.
Much to my amazement the sky had cleared in the area of the bird. I stopped abruptly and managed to fire off just a few shots before its prey saw a shadow over him/her.
Sparrowhawk in an Oly blue sky.

E-5 A mode and various settings. Lenses used 12-60 and 70-300 coupled with the EC-14 1.4 converter

Looks like you got a result then Barrie. I particularly like the Dramatic tone shot compared with the Natural tone version. Was this done 'in camera' or in PP. Either way it shows what can be done to enhance a photo taken in somewhat flat lighting. I reckon the landing beacon shot could be similarly enhanced also.

The Art filters can be applied in the camera at the time of shooting, or if you record a RAW, you can use Olympus Viewer 2 software (free) to apply the effect retrospectively.

The Sparrohawk shot is very nice - well done Barr1e!

        Thank you both,

Stephen - the art filter was in camera.

Ian - a fortunate shot, but a more than pleasing one for me.

        Regards. Barr1e

You make your own luck, Barr1e, and this is a good example of the proof!

I like the dramatic tone finish of the frosty steps.

            Well spotted with the sparrowhawk
