I managed to get a break from website activities (very brief!) and thought I would share this image of the Herring Gull.

I like this a lot - not only is the gull nice and sharp and in great profile, but you have an interesting background pattern that adds a sense of speed to the picture.

Thanks Ian. This is one from the E5. I experimented with loading a RAW file in SilkyPix (30 day trial version to tide me over until Adobe get their act together), saved it as a tiff file then loaded it into Lightroom for editing. Long winded and not the best approach at editing RAW images, but beggars can not be choosers.

The background are gentle ripples on the water in Langstone Harbour.

I love seeing these spread wings shots ..... it allows the intricate patterns to be clearly seen.

Love this as Ive got some shots of the same bird in flight but not as good a background as yours, top marks.

Thanks Ash. This was one frame of a sequental shoot to test the E5 in this mode. If you go to here you can see all 5 frames (none dropped) and the settings I used to get them.
