  • Old Photographs

My Grandfather and Aunt were both professional photographers with their own studio. My grandfather served in the first world war and took a number of photographs.

After the recent death of my step father many old pictures taken by both Grandfather and Aunt came into my possession.

Here are one or two from the great war taken I believe by Grandfather.

The Winston Churchill shot I believe to be a copy of an original war office picture possibly taken by my Grandfather, if he were the official photographer the negatives would have been retained by the war office.

    Hope you find these interesting.

Here are some family shots, now don't laugh three are of me one with my Mum one of my Mum alone long before I was born, and one of my Aunt (the bars on this are due to the texture of the paper).
These were all taken by my Aunt (she is now 95 one years younger than Mum would have been if she were alive) except the one of her which I think was taken my Grandfather.

This picture is of both Mum & Aunt at roughly the ages of 15-16, 80 years ago taken by Grandfather.
Emotionally special to me, but also setting that aside I think a very beautiful photograph, I would be very proud if I had taken it myself.

Must be wonderful to have such old photographs in pristine condition. Most old ones we see are spoilt with scratches and creases.

There were more but they had been damaged by flooding in Morecambe some years ago. Fortunately most were repeats of the family photo's, and the great war pictures were kept elsewhere and escaped damage.

Thanks for sharing those images. Pictures of WW1 are always interesting but especially for you, they are real treasures coming from the family.
                    Kind regards

                    Peter
