(Some of you may have seen these photos posted on my Facebook page)
South East of Manila is the popular tourist site of the Pagsanjan falls. You can hire a canoe (complete with two boat men) to travel up-stream to the falls and back. The journey takes you through deep gorges with vertical sides well over a hundred feet high, and over several rock-strewn rapids. The river was used for filming of Apocalypse Now, incidentally.

A local boatman passes us as we paddle against the flow of the river.

One of the smaller waterfalls encountered during the one hour upstream journey.

Approaching the entrance to one of the several steep sided gorges.

Sometimes, you just have to get out and push!

On the raft to venture to the Pagsanjan waterfall itself.

The more venturous members of my family are in there somewhere! I was on dry land operating the camera...

Returning from the falls (slow shutter speed to smooth the waterfall).

And the group photo!

Elizabeth and her aunt are soaking but happy!

We encounter a peasant girl on her bamboo raft on our way home.

Now paddling downstream. It was a superb day to remember.
