Cracking good shot. Rather him than me though.Originally posted by Ian View Post
Good of them to tell us which camera and settings he used. I'd never risk a Pentax in that situation - they're much too precious.
He should've used a right angle spy lens too, or a Blue Peter homemade jobbie like Graham suggested.

I'd agree about the picture, but the difference is that this guy is doing his job and would have been totally focussed on getting a shot that was different from the rest, and that his paper would use. You would have no such worries and didn't need to put yourself in that position. Also you have paid good money for your Pentax and it is precious to you, whilst this guy is probably using one paid for by the paper, its a tool, and he probably won't have the same feelings about it.
BTW check out the guy on the right with the cigar..........weird

i can guarantee that he was not stood in a position to elicit that photo (he'd have been moved by the course marshals). tiger miss hit the ball which was why it went to the right and ultimately into the cameraman. iirc, there were at least 10 other pressers at that location along with all the video teams etc. luck of the draw.

He got a great shot, no doubt about that. He held his nerve very well as that ball came towards him.Originally posted by devilgas View Posti can guarantee that he was not stood in a position to elicit that photo (he'd have been moved by the course marshals). tiger miss hit the ball which was why it went to the right and ultimately into the cameraman. iirc, there were at least 10 other pressers at that location along with all the video teams etc. luck of the draw.
He was certainly very lucky that ball didn't hit him smack in the eye. He's have lost more than his camera if that had happened.

to be honest, he had very little chance to get out of the way of the ball. time of club hitting ball to ball hitting camera would be less than 0.5sec. as i say, luck of the draw.

Will be interesting to know if the lens survived its impact!Originally posted by devilgas View Postto be honest, he had very little chance to get out of the way of the ball. time of club hitting ball to ball hitting camera would be less than 0.5sec. as i say, luck of the draw.

Re: Tiger Woods shoots photographer, literally!
probably not as there was not much power behind the shot. it was a 'simple' 10m chip onto the green, so very little pace behind the ball.Originally posted by Pol View Post
I dare bet he must've felt it though!
now, if it'd been off one of tiger's 300yd drives, that'd be a different story.....
