The young jackdaws can be very playful and just love hopping up behind the crows and pecking at their tails.Originally posted by Pol View PostThat third bird's hilarious! Thinks he's a squirrel.
We've never had Jackdaws in the garden. Never seen any around here actually.

Do you have a nest nearby? Did you do anything specific to get them visiting or did they just turn up?Originally posted by Pops View PostThe young jackdaws can be very playful and just love hopping up behind the crows and pecking at their tails.

We have crows coming and going in the oaks but they rarely come down onto the garden. Same with the Magpies - in the trees but rarely coming down to the garden. They come into the shrubs but the smaller bird aren't scared off too easily - they just keep a respectful distance and feed on the other side.

Just over the fence at the bottom of the garden is a small wood couple that with the 17 assorted feeding stations I have scattered around and there is the answer. Up to now I have had 31 different type of bird in the garden. Some of course are seasonal but many are regular all round visitors.Originally posted by Pol View PostDo you have a nest nearby? I also have a resident frog family and a pair of hedgehogs
Suzie doesn't bother any of them but she does have a go at the squirrel when he comes

You certainly have a good selection of visitors then! We only keep 3-4 hanging feeders going now as well as the usual ground feeders.Originally posted by Pops View PostJust over the fence at the bottom of the garden is a small wood couple that with the 17 assorted feeding stations I have scattered around and there is the answer. We have lots of frogs, toads and newts too. More frequent visits fron the badgers overnight too. We have hedgehogs but I rarely see them unless they appear at a time when the foxes or badgers have triggered the security lights.

Excellent series as ever, and thanks for sharing. Love that bluetit, and as for the squirrook..... priceless!
We do get the occasional crow in the garden but it's mainly jackdaws, which makes the little'uns scatter and squawk.carolannphotos.smugmug.com / webleedmusicmedia.com
