Some days you win others not.

Today we spent some hours trying to photograph butterflies before the cooler climate closed the season on them. The wind was so high that after taking many pix without a reasonable result we gave up.

I was hopeful of getting at least one with the Canon to show here, but alas it wasn't to be.

Here is one from a few days ago when conditions were almost perfect. It did take however 40+ shots to find one that was pretty much in focus over the whole insect.

    Taken with the Olympus E-3 + 70-300 (140-600) lens.

    A Mode - F6.3 - iso 400 - EV-0.7

Thanks for your kind comments, both.

I was fortunate in that conditions were perfect and it was a once only shot as regards settings.

The E-3 like some cameras enjoys the light, especially with the 70-300 attached, which as you see suited the well shaped colourful butterfly.

          ---------------------------------------

Peter - I do have a Canon G11 (superseded so quickly by the G11). I haven't used it much for macro shots (still practising). I find it a super camera in almost everything else. A little heavy for the person who wants a good p+s ie a little too heavy for the belt strap.

          Regards. Barr1e
