Bother....... that's what you get for coming late to the party

Lovely set - that first one's a cracker, and still trying to imagine what he'd be saying (if not the above!)

Thanks for your comments. I rarely watch TV and had to Google for "Simples". I didn't understand it.

Audrey, your understanding of modern parlance is sadly lacking. I'll prescribe an hour of watching ITV for the next few days, and if its no better in a week come back and see me

The only Meercat I have seen on TV is to do with some advert, but I don't know which, so trying catch my attention with regard to adverts falls on stoney ground.

Don't worry about it, Audrey. I only knew what it meant because I was irritated when I noticed people kept saying or writing it ... so I'd looked it up a while ago.

We never watch TV and our set was 20+ years old, probably nearer 25 yrs old. I finally decided to get rid of it about 6-7 weeks ago when I got sick of the sight of it.

A week later we decided to get a TV/DVD combi just in case we wanted to watch a DVD. It's been used only once to watch a DVD and the only time the TV gets looked at is if one of our sons happens to drop by and switches it on.

I don't suppose this latest set will last 20-25yrs. Frankly, I'd rather curl up read a book.

Never mind the stupid advert, your pictures are great, I did some at Chester Zoo of their Meercat's a month or two back, nothing like as good as these, well done.

Thanks Patrick, I feel better now.

It took me ages to post all the pictures (lion, lemur and meercat) and I kept seeing how many people had viewed and no-one commented. At least I have a few comments now. I was about to take my ball home and never come back.

Your shots, not just of the meercats, but also of the other animals at the YWP, are nicely observed and a pleasure to view.

My 'simples' comment was trite and unnecessary and I apologise to those who found it inappropriate. In future, I'll try to take the business of photography a little more seriously...

                          Re: Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Meercat

I really liked your photos. I especially liked the lions. Kind of made me want to just jump in there and pet them. Of course if I could have done that I'd be dead now and not posting this reply. But those manes look SOOOO inviting.
I too have had that feeling with a lot of views but no comments. This I think has happened with all of us on all forums. I think that we all need to think and find something to comment on. I don't think that anyone really just wants to "great shots" or whatever. But something is better than nothing.
As for the " Simples", I think that it was an attempt at humor that I can understand, but I think the apology was sincere and should be appreciated as not everyone would be "man enough" to admit to a mis-step.

Apology accepted although, I wasn't "Getting at you", it was just that I didn't understand it.

I didn't put the photos in the Critique section as I knew their faults. I think I was just pleased with how far my camera would reach and get a reasonable photo of the Lions. You see it's the Fuji HS10, the full zoom being 720mm and some of the photos were hand held. I just thought I would share them.

The fact that you used the HS10 most certainly does make everything very much more interesting, Audrey! I remember you mentioning getting it not so long ago and had wondered how you'd been getting on with it.

Are all the lion, meercat and lemur pics taken at full stretch or thereabouts? He's also asking ... is it possible to screw a filter on the front of the lens ...eg a protection filter?

David's already booting up his 'puter and looking at reviews and prices as I type. He's very interested as he already has a Fuji 7000 and a Fuji 1500 that get used regularly by David and our sons. He tells me the only problem he finds with the 1500 is that it can't take a screw filter on the front.
